I’m not too proud to admit that I had a little moment when Augustana’s “Boston” blared through the massive speakers erected on the Massachusetts Avenue bridge for last night’s July 4 (J4) festivities.

And I am proud to note that there were friends on hand who didn’t see the little smile that spread across my face beneath the fireworks, but still gave me a hug or a rub on the back when the lyrics kicked in.

It was lovely to stand on the bridge, glow-bands around our necks or acting as headbands, watching the fireworks glow and looking out over the illuminated domes in Cambridge…
